Canyon County, Idaho

Tile installation in Nampa, Idaho

A split market: older homes near downtown with real substrate history, and fast-growing newer subdivisions on the north and south edges.

Nampa has both ends of the spectrum. Neighborhoods near downtown include homes from the early and mid twentieth century, while the subdivisions expanding toward Meridian and south of the interstate are largely new construction.

Which one you own changes the first hour of the estimate completely.

What we find under Nampa floors

Older homes: unknown layers underfoot

Homes near downtown Nampa often carry decades of accumulated flooring — sheet vinyl over particleboard over an older tile over the original subfloor. Each layer changes the height, the deflection and the prep. We plan for discovery in these houses and would rather open a small area during the estimate than guess.

Post-war and mid-century bathrooms

Mid-century Nampa bathrooms frequently still have original mud-set wall tile or an early shower pan liner. Mud-set tile is genuinely durable, but when it fails it fails at the pan and the removal is heavier than modern backer board demolition. That affects the demolition day, the dumpster and the schedule.

New Canyon County subdivisions

The newer growth areas mirror Meridian: engineered joists, OSB, builder shower units and standard four-inch counter splashes. Upgrade work here is largely tile shower conversions, backsplashes, and large-format floors in open plans.

Irrigation-district soils and slab-on-grade

Parts of Canyon County sit on ground with a seasonally high water table tied to irrigation delivery. For slab-on-grade homes that makes slab moisture testing worthwhile before installing anything moisture-sensitive, and it is a reason we test rather than assume.

What Nampa homeowners ask us for most

Nampa tile questions

Do you charge for the drive out to Nampa?
No. Nampa is inside our regular service area and estimates there are handled the same way as in Ada County.
There is old tile set in mortar in my bathroom. Is removal a problem?
It is heavier and dustier than removing modern backer board, and it takes longer, so we account for it in the schedule and the debris plan. It is routine work, just not fast work.
How do I know whether my slab has a moisture issue?
By testing it. There are standard methods for measuring relative humidity in a slab, and the result determines whether a moisture-mitigating membrane is needed. It matters more for wood and resilient flooring than for tile, but it is still worth knowing.
